2,4-D dimethyl amine salt

Short Description:

Mode of Action of 2,4-D:

Selective systemic herbicide with post-emergence activity.

2,4-D works by mimicking natural auxin (plant growth hormone), causing uncontrolled cell division and growth in susceptible broadleaf weeds. This leads to disrupted vascular tissue, stem twisting, leaf curling, and ultimately plant death (HRAC/WSSA Group 4 – synthetic auxin).

Key Properties / USPs:

1. Excellent post-emergence control of annual and perennial broadleaf weeds

2. Systemic – translocates throughout the plant (phloem-mobile) for complete control, including roots

3. Visible symptoms (epinasty, stem curling) often appear within 24–48 hours

4. Highly selective to grasses (cereals, turf, sugarcane, etc.) when used properly

5. Absorbed through both foliage and roots

6. Effective across a wide range of temperatures and environmental conditions

7. Compatible with many herbicides, including glyphosate, dicamba, and graminicides, for broad-spectrum tank mixes

8. Suitable for use in IPM programs and non-selective weed management

9. Broad-spectrum activity – annual and perennial broadleaf weeds, including thistles, dandelions, clover, pigweed, and many woody species

    Technical Requirements for Use:

    1. Apply to winter wheat from the peak tillering stage to before jointing; apply to spring wheat from the 4-5 leaf stage to the peak tillering stage.

    2. Do not apply on windy days or if rain is expected within one hour.

    3. Apply a maximum of once per crop season.

Product Performance: This product is a hormone-based herbicide with strong systemic activity. It is used to control annual broadleaf weeds in wheat fields, such as shepherd’s purse, lambsquarters, knotweed, mustard, sedge, chickweed, amaranth, purslane, horsetail, sow thistle, thistle, cocklebur, field bindweed, purslane, etc.

    Precautions:

    1. Use a dedicated sprayer to avoid phytotoxicity when spraying other pesticides.

    2. Do not use mist sprayers or ultra-low volume sprayers. Pay attention to wind direction when applying. Do not use this product if broadleaf crops are planted within 100 meters, or if sensitive crops such as cotton, beans, sunflowers, sugar beets, vegetables, fruit trees, or forest trees are located downwind.

    3. Avoid mixing with alkaline pesticides or other alkaline substances.

    4. Keep away from aquaculture areas, rivers, ponds, and other bodies of water when applying the product. Do not wash application equipment in rivers, ponds, or other bodies of water.

    5. This product should not be used near mulberry orchards. Use the outermost mulberry trees as a buffer zone. Do not use the leaves from the outermost mulberry trees to feed silkworms.

    6. Dispose of used containers properly; do not reuse them or discard them carelessly.

    7. Wear protective goggles, a mask, gloves, and protective clothing when applying the product. Do not eat, drink, smoke, or drink water. After application, thoroughly wash exposed skin with soap and water.
