Bentazone

Short Description:

Mode of Action of Bentazone:

- Selective contact herbicide with post-emergence activity.

- Bentazone works by inhibiting photosynthesis (photosystem II – PSII inhibitor, HRAC/WSSA Group 6), blocking electron transport in plant chloroplasts, which leads to starvation and death of susceptible weeds.

Key Properties / USPs:

- Excellent post-emergence control of broadleaf weeds and sedges

- Fast-acting – visible symptoms appear within days

- Low toxicity to grasses (cereals, rice, maize) when used as directed

- Absorbed primarily through foliage, with limited translocation

- Effective in a wide range of environmental conditions

- Compatible with many other herbicides for broad-spectrum tank mixes

- Suitable for use in IPM (Integrated Pest Management) programs

- Broad-spectrum activity – Annual broadleaf weeds and sedges (Cyperus species)

Typical Use Crops:

- Rice (broadleaf weeds and sedges)

- Soybeans (broadleaf weeds)

- Corn / Maize (broadleaf weeds)

- Cereals – wheat, barley, oats (broadleaf weeds)

- Beans and peas (broadleaf weeds)

- Peanuts (broadleaf weeds)

- Pastures and turf (broadleaf weeds)

 Technical Requirements for Use:

1. Apply as a foliar spray to soybeans at the 2-3 compound leaf stage and to annual broadleaf weeds at the 2-4 leaf stage, ensuring full contact between the herbicide and the weed stems and leaves. Recommended water volume: 30-40 kg/acre.

2. Spray thoroughly and evenly, avoiding overspraying or missed areas.

3. Prevent pesticide drift onto nearby sensitive crops to avoid phytotoxicity. Do not use this product in drought-stricken or waterlogged fields to prevent phytotoxicity.

4. Applying this product on a warm, sunny day is more effective. Do not apply on windy days or before/after rain.

5. Use no more than once per crop season.

Precautions:

1. Read this label carefully before use and strictly follow the instructions.

2. When preparing and applying pesticides, wear long-sleeved protective clothing, shoes, hats, masks, goggles, and protective gloves to avoid eye or skin contact and inhalation through the mouth and nose. Do not smoke, drink water, or eat during application. After application, wash hands, face, and other exposed skin promptly, and change and wash protective clothing and equipment.

3. Pesticide packaging waste must not be discarded or disposed of arbitrarily; it should be returned to pesticide dealers or pesticide packaging waste recycling stations in a timely manner. Do not wash application equipment in rivers, ponds, or other bodies of water. Do not pour out any remaining pesticide solution after application.

4. Children, pregnant women, breastfeeding women, and those with allergies should avoid contact with this product.
